Kevin Hoskins has 10+ years of business leadership and management experience. He has also booked, promoted, and produced over 3,500 concerts & events. Through his work, he has been able to combine his passion for creativity and entrepreneurship with a focus on strategic and sustainable business development.
Hoskins grew up in Vermont. While studying Political Science and French at the University of Vermont, he discovered the vaults of the college radio station, which further sparked his love of music. This led to setting up DIY shows for touring bands, handling publicity and radio promotion for record labels, and eventually booking tours. In addition, he assisted with logistics for MASS MoCA‘s opening gala, staying on afterwards to assist with first accounting and then publicity.
After moving to Boston, Hoskins started tour managing, basically handling the business for artists on the road: advancing show details with promoters, coordinating tour logistics, and taking care of show settlements and tour expenses, as well as keeping the artists safe and happy.
During breaks from touring, he served as the office manager for a booking agency during the day – processing contracts and advancing tours – while handling hospitality for the musicians playing The Middle East at night.
Located in the heart of Cambridge, MA, The Middle East complex features four rooms of music (and three restaurant spaces) and is one of the only remaining independent venues in the Boston area. Hoskins was named the booker for the venue in 2004 and worked to make The Middle East a second home for both local and touring bands, as well as a cultural hub and economic driver for Cambridge’s Central Square.
Responsible for all of the concerts and events from start to finish, he served as the main point of contact for artists’ representatives (including booking agents, managers, labels, and publicists), as well as bands, independent promoters, press, and sponsors. He negotiated offers, confirmed deals, and signed contracts for the venue. He also developed its marketing plan, supervised the promotion of all its concerts and events, and provided strategic direction for the venue.

In 2010, Hoskins moved to Austin, Texas to book Emo’s, a 1,000-capacity concert venue and its 300-capacity indoor club. His work there included booking and coordinating logistics for 42 showcases over the course of 10 days during SxSW.
In 2011, Hoskins returned to Boston and booked shows as an independent promoter at venues in the Boston area, eventually teaming up with CQ Presents to book Great Scott, T.T. the Bear’s, and O’Brien’s. In 2012, he launched Boston Showlist, listing for concerts in the greater Boston area.
In 2013, he was hired to consult for The Middle East and Arts at the Armory. He developed a new business model for the Armory, renewed the venue’s relationships with agents, and worked to develop new partners for events. He also participated in the Central Square Business Association’s strategic planning process in order to improve the business environment of Central Square.

In 2014, Hoskins was invited to teach artist management at Bay State College. The following semester, he developed a course on venue management that combined in-class interviews featuring music business professionals with site visits taking students to venues all over the city, from the intimate O’Brien’s rock club up to the 2,500 capacity House of Blues Boston venue.
In 2015, Hoskins launched Authentic Sounds, a music website. In 2016, he co-created a music festival called Title Town and tour managed L.A. Witch, Torres, and White Hinterland. He also consulted with a number of startups and entrepreneurs.
His passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability led him to The Sustainable Innovation MBA program at the University of Vermont in 2017. Focusing on leadership, business strategy, and management, coursework also included finance, venture capital, and business economics as well as CSR, marketing, supply chains, public policy, sustainable development, systems tools, and entrepreneurial business models.
As the capstone project for the program, Hoskins’ practicum team developed recommendations regarding impact measurement metrics, as well as strategic partnerships, for a new impact investment fund.
Graduating in 2018 with an MBA, one of his goals is to help people bring their work into the world. He is passionate about helping businesses develop strategies, messaging, and management that leads to sustainable and profitable growth.
